This run of shows was a little bittersweet. A few days before the promoter Bill Graham, who brought the Dead and so many Bay Area bands to the forefront, died in a helicopter crash. But the music never stopped. This was Halloween night. During Dark Star, Ken Kesey comes out and barks, "How do you like your blue eyed boy now, Mr. Death? Freaky. The Werewolves of London encore was perfect.
